Bayou Born. Memphis Raised.
Welcome
to the Bayou
Since 1987, Bayou Bar & Grill has been Memphis’s go-to spot for Cajun flavor, cold beer, and good company. We brought a little New Orleans flavor up to Overton Square and mixed it with Memphis grit. Here the food’s hot, the beer’s cold, and the good times never miss a beat.
Sure, we have plenty of screens to catch the game, but it’s the food that keeps the locals coming back. From our famous Zydeco Wings and signature Alligator Nachos to straight-up Cajun staples like po’boys, jambalaya, étouffée, and gumbo — everything’s made the right way — no shortcuts, no fluff. Pair it all with a lineup of local and regional beers or a cocktail that hits the spot, and you’ve got yourself a real Bayou experience.
Whether you’re here for a big game, a big plate, or both, you’ll fit right in. Grab a seat, grab a pint, and laissez les bon temps rouler!
Why We’re THE Local Spot
“The Bayou is the best place in Memphis going on 35 years now. I don't care who you are, it's great.”
- John S.

We’ve got your Cajun food fix right here in Midtown. Our kitchen serves up the real deal: gumbo, crawfish, po’boys, and étouffée that taste straight outta Louisiana. And if you’re craving something a little closer to home, our burgers, wings, and gator nachos hit just as hard.
Everything comes out fast — hot, fresh, and in front of you in about 10–15 minutes — because nobody likes to wait when the food smells this good.
No reservations. No fuss. No problem bringing the whole crew. The Square’s go-to spot when you’re looking to relax with some killer food, cold beer, and good company.
Your Team, Your Bar
This is the Midtown spot to catch the game. Order a round, grab your favorite wings, and settle in. We’ve got tons of screens so you’ll never miss a play (or that bad call everyone’s still yelling about).
We’ve got every package you could want — NFL, NBA, college ball — plus all the Memphis pride you can handle. Whether you’re cheering for the Grizz, Tigers, or your fantasy team, we’ve got a seat with your name on it.
Die-hard fans and die-hard food lovers, welcome home.
The Bayou Story
Chef Michael Cahal opened The Bayou in 1987 after learning under New Orleans legend Chef Paul Prudhomme. He brought authentic Cajun cooking to Memphis before “Midtown Cajun” was even a thing.
After Chef Cahal hung up his apron in 1994, longtime team members Bill & Carla Baker took the reins before passing the torch to new ownership in 2024. For nearly 30 years, they’ve kept the same heart — great food, local spirit, and a come-as-you-are vibe that feels like home.
Now, Bayou Bar & Grill stands as Overton Square’s neighborhood hangout — the perfect mix of restaurant, sports bar, and community staple.
